Paralegal Supervisor, Trademark

Our client, an AmLaw 100 firm with offices throughout the US and an international presence, is seeking a Paralegal Supervisor for the Trademark practice group in their Boston, MA office.  This individual will be responsible for hiring, training and assigning work to the firm’s Trademark paralegals and temporary personnel while also managing the day to day operations for the trademark paralegals.  The Paralegal Supervisor will also be charged with recruiting/hiring staff, provide orientation and training, monitor billable hours and conduct performance reviews.  In addition to the staff management responsibilities, this individual will perform senior level paralegal duties.  The anticipated percentage of supervision to paralegal duties is about 50% for each area. Specific Responsibilities Include: 
  1. Responsible for all aspects of hiring, training and assigning work to a firm wide department of Trademark paralegals and associated temporary and contract personnel, including daily local and remote supervision, evaluation, coaching, termination, documentation of procedures and implementation of policies.
 
  1. Maintain continual contact with team to ensure coverage of deadlines, facilitate completion of job requirements and maintain positive work environment within the department.
 
  1. Responsible for development, evaluation, and implementation of new procedures for improvement of work flow and efficiency.
 
  1. Provide ongoing training opportunities for paralegals with respect to rule changes, forms revisions, and ongoing endeavors to improve work processes and increase revenues.
 
  1. Develop and maintain current job descriptions for the team within department.
 
  1. Travel to satellite offices on a regular basis and as circumstances require meeting with team, prosecution attorneys and supporting staff to communicate and help implement Practice Group procedures and policies.
 
  1. Conduct ongoing informal and yearly formal evaluations.
 
  1. Prepares and files relevant documents in the prosecution of Trademark applications and the maintenance of registrations.
 
  1. Corresponds directly with clients and foreign associates on routine prosecution and maintenance matters.
 
  1. Conducts and analyses preliminary clearance searches; performs initial review of full clearance searches; conducts research on Trademark law and due diligence on trademark portfolios.
 
  1. Prepares and records ownership documents and licenses related to Trademarks.
 Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of five years in paralegal capacity.  Trademark experience is essential. Ability to supervise staff in various positions and geographic locations, including: paralegals, temporary/contract personnel as well as experience both as a trainer and supervisor required.
