Business Development Manager----Healthcare & Government

We currently represent a client of ours, a 400 attorney law firm with 8 offices nationally, which is seeking an energetic and talented Business Development Manager with deep healthcare industry knowledge to join their Business Development and Marketing team.  Based in D.C., the Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for raising the profile of the Healthcare and Government practices  in the market, positioning the practices with as a thought leader, responding to RFP and pitch requests, preparing and updating marketing materials, and assisting in the development of business with key clients of the practice.Specific Responsibilities of the Position include:Practice Development§                                 Work proactively with Division Chairs and attorneys and in coordination with the Senior Director of Business Development and Marketing to develop and implement strategic marketing and business development initiatives. Analyze marketing and business development programs and adjusts strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness. §                                 Work collaboratively with the business development team members from other Divisions/practice groups to identify cross-selling and other business development opportunities; track and evaluate the return on investment. Ensure that target clients of the group are developed and approached in a manner consistent with the Firms major client programs. §                                 Manage the healthcare practice group budget.  Proposal Writing§                                 Develop practice group-specific pitches and proposals and to contribute to multi-group bids and proposals. §                                 Manage the /proposal process, including drafting, editing and assembling proposals, pitches, and other business development presentation materials and tracking results. §                                 Provide value added editorial and development of key messages across a range of multi-disciplinary RFPs and proposals. §                                 Ensure quality, formatting and branding are consistent with the firm’s requirements. §                                 Develop descriptive materials, etc. for the healthcare practice, including the website; and for proposal responses as well as other client presentations. §                                 Track significant representative matters in order to maintain an experience database and manage representative experience lists (for pitches and website). §                                 Establish and manage standards and procedures to ensure that representative experience (deals, cases, matters etc.) are collected on a regular and timely basis and add to the Experience Manager database. §                                 Prepare representative matter lists, including those that focus on specific geographic and industry sectors, in connection with various business development opportunities.  Marketing and Communications§                                 Develop and manage the execution of the marketing and business development programs to achieve objectives for raising market awareness, revenue, and profitability.  §                                 Coordinate and plan client events, including working with attorneys to develop content, develop targeted mailing lists and materials, develop and assist in the execution of follow-up plan to ensure best possible ROI. §                                 Manage the preparation of healthcare submissions to various legal directories, surveys and rankings such as Chambers.  §                                 Work with the PR and Branding managers to develop and implement practice-specific PR program and oversee the drafting and editing of promotional activities and collateral including print, electronic media, and direct mail. §                                 Manage the CRM database for assigned practice areas and approve the use of internal and external mailing lists. §                                 Perform market, client and competitor research and other projects using various databases.  §                                 Work with our PR firm to identify, evaluate and advise on sponsorship and speaking engagement opportunities for the healthcare and government practice groups. §                                 Drive and manage special projects as assigned. §                                 Ensure that the group’s business plan supports the Firms overall strategy. §                                 Know the firm’s marketing and branding standards and consistently apply them in all aspects of their work.  Requirements:The position requires an individual with a deep knowledge of the healthcare industry, preferably in professional services, strong business development experience. Outstanding project management skills: the ability to drive business development strategies through specific project teams comprised of attorneys and staff.·                                 Excellent writing, editorial and proofreading skills essential. ·                                 Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and superior client service skills.  ·                                 Proven ability to make compelling and persuasive presentations.  ·                                 The candidate must have superior interpersonal skills, be a team player, proactive and have a positive and confident approach backed by tenacity and commitment. Good influencing and negotiating skills and an ability to persuade others to deliver is a must. ·                                 Additionally the successful candidate will possess the ability to handle stressful situations, make decisions and adapt to changing work situations effectively and demonstrate a willingness to work flexible hours to meet department goals.   ·                                 Ability to work beyond standard hours during busy periods to meet tight deadlines required. Education and Work Experience§                                 Deep knowledge of the healthcare industry is essential.  §                                 Bachelor's Degree – communications or business background preferred §                                 Advanced Office Suite skills – particularly in PowerPoint and Excel.
